MacBook Neo Compatible With New Studio Displays, But There's a Catch
Source: MacRumors
Compatibility
Apple’s low‑cost MacBook Neo is compatible with the company’s new Studio Displays, but its output will be scaled to 4K resolution at 60 Hz.

Apple confirmed the compatibility and output limitation with 9to5Mac.
Pricing and Alternatives
- Regular Studio Display: $1,599, 5K, max 60 Hz refresh rate.
- New 5K Studio Display XDR: $3,299, up to 120 Hz.
Apple markets the refreshed Studio Display as “the perfect companion to Mac,” but for a MacBook Neo external display there are cheaper USB‑C 4K options from LG, Dell, Samsung, etc.
If you still have a Mac with an Intel chip, neither Studio Display model works with an Intel‑based Mac (source).
DisplayPort Support
- The MacBook Neo has two USB‑C ports; only one supports DisplayPort 1.4 for an external monitor.
- Connect the external display to the USB 3 port closest to the rear of the device.
- The laptop lacks Thunderbolt support, so daisy‑chaining multiple monitors isn’t possible.
Availability
The $599 MacBook Neo and the new Studio Displays are available for pre‑order now, with shipments beginning on Wednesday, March 11.
