Overview

Jots is a web app designed to help developers boost their critical thinking skills through a reflection engine, flexible journaling options, and developer‑centric integrations such as VS Code and GitHub.

Motivation

Loic and I are software engineers who constantly absorb large amounts of information to stay current with trends and technologies. We needed a tool that could prompt us with the right questions, enabling better reflection, learning, and productivity. Jots was created to meet that need.

• Reflection engine with tailored prompts
• Rich‑text journaling powered by Lexical

• Chat‑driven assistance and automated writing via the OpenAI API

Tech Stack

• Framework: Next.js (deployed on Vercel)
• Authentication & Persistence: Supabase (user auth) + PostgreSQL
• Editor: Lexical for rich‑text editing
• Background Jobs: EasyCron
• AI Features: OpenAI API
• Video Hosting: Mux (used to host and stream the pitch video for the challenge)
