YouTube Outage Overview

If you’re trying to access YouTube right now and running into problems, you’re not alone. A widespread outage appears to be affecting YouTube and, to a lesser extent, YouTube TV.

The issue began around 7:45 pm ET (4:45 pm PT) and expanded rapidly by 8 pm ET (5 pm PT). DownDetector shows nearly 300,000 reports for YouTube, with spikes for both Google and YouTube TV as well. The outage is primarily affecting core YouTube services.

Impact

• Users cannot access core features such as the subscription feed, Shorts, or the homepage on both the mobile app and the web app.
• YouTube TV remains accessible in tests, and YouTube Music appears to be working.
• Direct links or embedded videos on the web are still viewable.

Updates

• As of 8:20 pm ET (5:20 pm PT), Google had not formally acknowledged the outage.
• Update: YouTube services appear to be partially resolved. Google confirmed the outage in a forum post.
