iPhone Fold Crease Measurements Revealed as Device Hits Production

Production Confirmation
Apple has submitted production‑line orders for its upcoming foldable iPhone, effectively confirming that the device will launch this year, according to a Chinese leaker. The information comes from the Weibo account Fixed Focus Digital, which says the orders have already reached assembly lines.
Crease Measurements
- Crease depth: controlled to under 0.15 mm. A shallower depth makes the fold less noticeable to the eye and to the touch.
- Crease angle: kept under 2.5°. A smaller angle results in a smoother, flatter transition across the fold rather than a sharp ridge.
Display Technology
The device is reported to use a new type of display panel developed by Samsung that has never been used in a foldable product before. It has been described as “virtually crease‑free” and even “no crease at all.”
UDN previously reported that Apple had solved the “crease problem” that has plagued most foldable smartphones, positioning the foldable iPhone as the first crease‑free foldable on the market.
Device Specifications
- Unfolded main display: 7.8 inches
- Cover display: 5.5 inches
- Form factor: Book‑style design (similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold) rather than a clamshell
- Rear cameras: Two
- Front‑facing camera: One (on the cover display)
- Inner selfie camera: One (on the main display)
- Touch ID: Integrated into the power button
- Thickness: Approximately 4.5 mm when unfolded; 9 mm–9.5 mm when closed
