iPhone 18 Pro: Three new design updates are coming this year
Source: 9to5Mac

iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are slated to launch this fall, and alongside a host of new features, three design updates are reportedly on the way. Here’s what the rumors suggest.
1. Unified rear glass and aluminum colors

Among the iPhone 17 Pro’s design tweaks, the new color options have been well‑received, and the full‑width camera plateau has gone largely unnoticed. One change, however, has sparked debate: the two‑tone rear glass and aluminum.
According to Weibo leaker Instant Digital, Apple plans to address this with the iPhone 18 Pro:
The iPhone 18 Pro series features a redesigned back glass that minimizes color difference between the glass and the aluminum back panel. A seamless, unified look.
2. Dynamic Island shrinks

Early reports conflicted over the front‑face design of the iPhone 18 Pro. While screen sizes for the Pro and Pro Max models appear unchanged, the front cutout has been the subject of speculation.
Recent evidence points to a smaller Dynamic Island rather than a hole‑punch. Rumors claim the new Dynamic Island will be about 35 % smaller on both the Pro and Pro Max models. Some Face ID components may move under the display, but not all, meaning Apple isn’t shifting to a hole‑punch design—at least for now.
3. Bold new colors

Apple surprised users with the iPhone 17 Pro’s vibrant color palette, especially the popular Cosmic Orange, signaling a move away from the traditional white, black, and gray shades.
Rumors indicate the iPhone 18 Pro will continue this trend. Macworld recently reported that four new colors are expected:
- Light Blue
- Dark Cherry
- Silver
- Dark Gray
The Dark Cherry shade has been described as a blend of burgundy, coffee, and deep purple, and is anticipated to be a standout option in Apple’s marketing.
