The iPhone 18 Pro has reached the test‑production stage ahead of its September launch, according to a leaker with a solid track record.
Test Production
Fixed Focus Digital posted on Weibo:
“The 18 series is already in production testing. The production line of the iPhone 18 Pro has also started. According to the current information, the material has not changed much, and the current scheme specifications are still used as a whole.”
Test production is the point at which Apple’s assembly partners verify that there are no unexpected issues before mass production. It uses the same lines and procedures as final production, allowing any design flaws to be caught early.
A device typically reaches this stage only after all design decisions are finalized. However, a recent Bloomberg report suggested Apple may still be deciding on color options.
Color Options
Apple is reportedly considering a deep‑red color for the next lineup. Given the success of the orange variant, it’s possible both colors could be offered, though they sit close together on the color wheel. As of now, red appears to be the new flagship color in testing for the upcoming iPhone Pro models.
If the red option were intended for launch, the decision would likely have been made by now. There are a couple of ways the two reports could be reconciled:
- Production‑line evaluation – Apple may be assessing how the red finish holds up through the manufacturing process.
- Later‑stage rollout – Apple could introduce the red option after launch, similar to past additions like the Product (RED) models.
What do you think? Would you like to see the iPhone 18 Pro offered in red?
