iPadOS 26.5 is launching very soon, and with it three new features for your iPad. Here’s what’s new.

Automatic pairing for Magic Keyboard, Magic Trackpad, and Magic Mouse

iPadOS 26.5 introduces a change intended to make it easier to pair Apple accessories with your iPad.

Now, when you connect a Magic Keyboard, Magic Trackpad, or Magic Mouse via USB‑C, the accessory will automatically establish a Bluetooth connection too. This means that when you disconnect the USB‑C cable, your iPad will maintain a wireless connection with the accessory—no manual Bluetooth pairing required.

The Mac has worked this way for years, with wired connections automatically enabling wireless pairing, so it’s good to see a similar feature come to the iPad.

New wallpaper with 11+ colorful variants

Apple is adding a new Pride Luminance wallpaper in iPadOS 26.5, and it includes far more than a single image.

Pride Luminance offers 11 colorful wallpapers to choose from, plus a custom wallpaper builder. When setting up the wallpaper, you can pick anywhere from 1 to 12 different colors, giving you a lot of variety for a fresh look.

Reminders snoozing updates

The Reminders app gets a subtle but useful enhancement. The snoozing function—available when you long‑press a reminder alert—now includes specific snooze times.

Instead of vague options like “This Afternoon” or “Tomorrow Morning,” iPadOS 26.5 shows precise choices such as “Remind Me at 3:00 PM” or “Remind Me Tomorrow at 9:00 AM,” removing ambiguity and making snoozes more practical.

iPadOS 26.5 features: wrap‑up

iPadOS 26.5 also adds Apple Maps’ new Suggested Places feature, helping you discover trending locations while browsing Maps on your iPad. Apple is already looking ahead to iPadOS 27, which will be unveiled next month with a larger lineup of new features.
