iOS 27 will include multiple new AI‑powered photo editing features, according to a new report. These features will let you quickly improve, expand, and reframe your images.
iOS 27 to focus on AI‑powered photo editing features
Bloomberg reports that iOS 27 will refresh the editing interface in the Photos app to add a new Apple Intelligence Tools section. Inside this menu, there will be three options that can make changes to a photo in a “few seconds.”
Extend
Generates additional image content beyond the original frame. For example, a close‑up photo of a landmark could be expanded to fill in surrounding scenery. Users can control how much is added by dragging the photo’s edges with their fingers.
Enhance
Automatically improves an image’s quality, adjusting lighting, colors, and other visual aspects.
Reframe
Allows users to shift perspective for spatial photos, effectively changing the composition without recapturing the shot.
Development of these tools has not been entirely smooth; internal testing indicates that Extend and Reframe do not always perform reliably. Apple may delay or scale back the features depending on improvements to the underlying models.
iOS 27 is set to be unveiled at WWDC on June 8. In addition to the new photo editing capabilities, the update is expected to bring major improvements to the broader Siri experience, along with bug fixes and general stability enhancements.
