Inside MacBook Neo shows a little computer and a lot of battery, speakers, and trackpad

Apple’s new MacBook Neo launches tomorrow, and you can already read our hands‑on review — here. While the official release will spark teardown efforts, we’re already learning about its internal layout.
MacBook Neo is mostly battery and speakers inside
My colleague Chance Miller spent several days testing the MacBook Neo and calls it “a truly great Mac at an unbelievable price.” In other words, the new “citrus” color laptop is no lemon.
A video review by YouTuber Dave2D actually removed the bottom of the MacBook Neo, showing just how much of the interior is taken up by the battery, side‑firing stereo speakers, and the new mechanical‑click trackpad.
Dave2D’s explanation of how the new mechanical‑click trackpad works is interesting: it’s basically a plate floating over a centered button.
Only a small portion of the internals is dedicated to the actual computing components. We’ll wait for more in‑depth teardowns to learn what’s inside.
The defining computing feature is that the MacBook Neo is the first Mac to run on a chip originally designed for the iPhone. Its A18 Pro chip is a variant of the processor used in the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
MacBook Neo comes out tomorrow for $599.
