I’m 18 and Terrified of AI Taking My Future Job—So I Made a Roadmap.

Introduction
I’m Muhammad Murtaza Khan, an 18‑year‑old student in my second semester of a Bachelor’s in Computer Science at Habib University, Karachi. My goal is to become a top‑tier AI engineer by 2029. Lately I’ve felt overwhelmed by the flood of “vibe coding” tools and the rapid advances from companies like NVIDIA, which raise concerns about future job prospects.
Instead of dwelling on the ethical debates or fearing displacement, I’ve decided to focus on becoming indispensable—someone who can leverage AI rather than be replaced by it. By the time I graduate, I want to stand out among the hundreds of peers entering the job market with the same curriculum.
Roadmap
Phase 1: The Basics
Focus: Python, HTML, and CSS.
Goal: Build the ability to ship full‑stack applications from scratch, using AI as a tutor rather than a coding intern.
Phase 2: System Design
Focus: Data structures and algorithms (DSA), web architecture, security, and robust solution design.
Goal: Understand why certain algorithms and methods are optimal for specific problems and learn to design scalable, secure systems.
Phase 3: Leveraging AI
Focus: Apply “vibe coding” tools to boost productivity after mastering the fundamentals.
Goal: Share new tools and applications weekly on social media, demonstrating how AI can augment development workflows.
Philosophy
“You’re not going to lose your job to an AI, but you’re going to lose your job to someone who uses AI.” – Jensen Huang
I intend to be the person who uses AI more effectively than others, ensuring my relevance in the evolving tech landscape.
Call to Action
I’m building a community of the next wave of elite coders, designers, and engineers. Rather than waiting for AI to replace us, we’ll evolve together and set new standards for the profession.
Stay tuned for the next post, where I’ll share my first Python project.
