After being announced last November, Ikea’s Matter‑compatible smart home collection has been slowly trickling into stores around the world. The most anticipated items are the new Matter‑over‑Thread smart bulbs. Although Ikea originally said they would reach the US in April 2026, they are now available through Ikea’s online store and at many retail locations across the country.

Connectivity issues
Early adopters, including The Verge’s Jennifer Pattison Tuohy, have reported difficulties connecting the bulbs to Ikea’s Dirigera hub as well as to other platforms like Apple Home and Amazon Alexa. Ikea acknowledges the problem and has released a hub firmware update aimed at improving “Matter onboarding stability.” It remains unclear whether this update fully resolves the widespread connectivity issues experienced with the Matter‑over‑Thread devices.
