How to use Google’s new information agents

Overview
At the 2026 Google I/O keynote, Google announced new information agents in Search. These agents let users create, customize, and manage multiple AI assistants that stay updated on topics of interest 24/7. Unlike traditional search, which only responds when prompted, information agents operate continuously, synthesizing data from multiple sources, explaining relevance, comparing perspectives, and delivering actionable insights. They are an evolution of Google Alerts, moving beyond simple notifications to proactive, context‑aware assistance.
Use Cases
- Stock market monitoring – Create an agent focused on specific companies, share prices, or economic trends. The agent tracks market activity, breaking news, earnings reports, and sends alerts with summaries and links.
- Travel planning – Track flight prices for upcoming trips and receive notifications when fares drop.
- Sports & live events – Follow favorite teams, receive real‑time updates, and get post‑game summaries.
- News & breaking stories – Stay informed about developments in politics, technology, or any niche interest.
- Housing & job markets – Monitor listings, price changes, and market trends.
- Weather & traffic – Get continuous updates on conditions that affect daily commutes.

- Enter a prompt describing the topic you want to track, e.g.,
“Keep me updated on nearby movie tickets for ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu.’”
- When relevant information appears, the Google app sends a push notification.
- View and manage your active agents in the AI Mode history, where you can refine parameters or turn alerts off.

Information agents will launch this summer. The rollout begins with Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in the United States, followed by expansion to additional markets.
