Here’s what that Google Home ‘no longer available’ automation warning actually means
Source: Android Authority

TL;DR
- Google Home users have been getting messages warning about changes to automations in early May.
- Google now clarifies that Home is losing the ability to perform phone‑related actions through automations.
- All other automations will keep functioning as normal.
The warning
Starting about a day ago, Google Home users began reporting that their devices announced:
“Just so you know, phone actions and automations will no longer be available starting in the first week of May.”
The message caused concern because many users have built extensive automations and were unsure what would be lost.
What Google is actually removing
Google clarified that the change only affects phone‑related actions within automations, such as:
- Checking the battery level
- Setting or unsetting Do Not Disturb
- Adjusting the phone’s volume
“We wanted to clarify that we are not removing automations in May, we are removing phone‑related actions in automations (i.e. check the battery level, set/unset do not disturb, and set the volume of your phone). Home automations will continue to work and any Home‑related actions will remain part of your automations and fully functional.”
Home‑related actions (e.g., controlling lights, thermostats, speakers, etc.) will continue to work as before.
Impact
The removal is limited in scope; most users’ automations will remain unaffected unless they rely heavily on phone‑specific actions. If you have automations that depend on those phone functions, you’ll need to adjust them.
