Google announced several updates for the Gemini app at its I/O developer conference, including a new design language called Neural Expressive. The redesign brings fresh typography, fluid animations, and haptic feedback, and integrates Gemini Live directly into the main experience. Users can now switch seamlessly between typing and speaking with the chatbot, and Gemini will respond with imagery, graphics, and narrated videos instead of long blocks of text. The updated app is rolling out worldwide on Android and iOS.

Daily Brief

A new AI agent, Daily Brief, is available starting today. When opted in, it gathers information from connected apps such as Gmail and Calendar to provide a daily summary of activities, pending communications, and prioritized tasks aligned with your goals. Users can train the agent by giving thumbs‑up or thumbs‑down feedback. Daily Brief is launching in the US as part of Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscriptions.

Gemini Omni

Google introduced Gemini Omni, a model that accepts text, images, and video inputs to generate video output. Features include:

  • Changing video backgrounds via text prompts
  • Applying effects and built‑in templates
  • Creating a personalized avatar that looks and sounds like you

Gemini Omni is available today for all Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers.

Gemini Spark

Gemini Spark is described as a “24/7 personal AI agent.” It runs on Gemini 3.5 and is tightly integrated with Workspace apps (Gmail, Docs, Slides) and can connect to third‑party services like Canva, OpenTable, and Instacart. Use cases include:

  • Analyzing credit‑card statements for hidden subscriptions
  • Generating notes from emails and chats, drafting reports in Google Docs, and composing follow‑up emails
  • Building complete workflows across apps

Spark is being tested this week and will roll out to Google AI Ultra beta subscribers in the US. Later this summer, Spark will be added to the Gemini app for macOS along with new voice experiences. The system can handle filler words and natural speech, turning spoken input into precise drafts for reports or emails.
