TL;DR

  • Google is adding a colorful new design to the interface for Wallet passes.
  • The latest preview shows more color and smoother screen transitions.
  • The redesign also appears on the Play Points balance screen.

A Bold, Colorful Redesign for Wallet Passes

A bold design can greatly improve an app’s usability. While text‑heavy interfaces can feel functional, smart use of color and form makes navigation feel natural.

Earlier this year we got an early look at how Google Wallet was planning a colorful, bold upgrade for its passes UI. In the latest preview (available in Wallet version 26.18.910990572), the changes are more polished:

  • Each pass retains its distinct color, but now the color is applied everywhere in the background, making passes instantly recognizable.
  • Screen elements transition smoothly without jarring stops or unnecessary curved edges.
  • All screens share a unified, vibrant backdrop.

Play Points Screen Gets a Refresh

The Play Points screen also shows progress:

  • The previously missing progress bar toward the next Play Points level is now present.
  • Background colors and edge shapes have been cleaned up, matching the new passes aesthetic.

Additional Improvements and Outlook

Google is also updating Wallet’s integration with Gmail, bringing further enhancements to how passes and receipts are managed. While there is no official timeline for when these changes will roll out to users, the current state of the passes redesign suggests the feature set is nearing completion.

⚠️ An APK teardown can predict future features based on work‑in‑progress code, but there’s no guarantee that all predicted features will reach a public release.
