TL;DR

  • Google is overhauling the Fitbit Community and the Google Home and Nest Community next month.
  • The changes include a new look, smarter categories, and a dedicated Gemini for Home discussion space.
  • Post history won’t be available on either forum after the changes take effect, and Fitbit users will need an entirely new account.

Overview

Google offers dedicated support communities for users to provide feedback and ask questions about its products and services. The two forums being significantly overhauled are the Fitbit Community and the Google Home and Nest Community. Google describes the upgrades as a “foundational shift” rather than just a visual refresh.

What’s Changing

  • Fresh design – a modern look and streamlined discussion layout.
  • Intuitive categories – reorganized topics to help users find what they need with fewer clicks.
  • Dedicated Gemini for Home space – a new discussion area for Gemini for Home.

The official announcement can be read in the Google Home & Nest Community blog post.

Post History

Google states that “your post history won’t be available anymore in the new community.” It is unclear whether this means:

  • Individual users will lose access to their own past posts, or
  • Older posts will become inaccessible to everyone on the new platform.

This applies to both the Fitbit Community and the Home and Nest Community. Google has not yet clarified the details.

Fitbit Community Specifics

The current Fitbit Community predates Google’s acquisition. According to the Fitbit Community blog post:

“We can’t wait for you to see the updated community! To join us, you’ll need to create a fresh account. Please note that once we launch, the current platform will be retired along with all existing profile data as we make way for this new chapter.”

Key points

  • All existing profile data will be removed.
  • Users must create a new account to participate in the revamped community.

Google Home and Nest Community Specifics

The announcement for the Home and Nest forums does not mention the need for a new account. The changes appear to be less drastic than those for Fitbit, but the platform will still receive the new design, categories, and Gemini discussion space.

Google adds:

“We’re integrating into a broader, more robust ecosystem. By moving to this new platform, we’re making sure that your experience remains world‑class for years to come.”

More details are expected before the May rollout.
