Google announced at its annual I/O event that the Gemini app is receiving several major updates, including a “Daily Brief” feature, a redesigned interface, a new AI video model called Gemini Omni, and a personal AI agent named Gemini Spark.

Daily Brief

The Daily Brief is a personalized morning digest that pulls information from a user’s inbox, calendar, and key tasks, then organizes it into a clear overview. It not only summarizes this data but also prioritizes tasks and suggests next steps, with the most important items shown first.

  • Rollout: Available today to Google AI subscribers in the United States.

Redesigned Interface

Google rebuilt the Gemini app from the ground up, introducing a new design language called Neural Expressive. The update brings fluid animations, vibrant colors, fresh typography, and haptic feedback.

Responses are no longer presented as a wall of text. Key information appears in bold at the top, with additional text, images, and timelines revealed as the user scrolls.

Gemini Spark

Gemini Spark is a 24/7 personal AI agent that helps users navigate their digital lives. As a cloud‑based agent, Spark continues working in the background even when the phone is locked, allowing users to create custom workflows and delegate real tasks to the assistant.

  • Testing: Currently in testing; expected to be available to Google AI Ultra subscribers next week.

Gemini Omni

Gemini Omni combines Gemini with Google’s generative media models to produce multimodal video content grounded in knowledge. Users can provide prompts such as “claymation explainer of protein folding,” and the model can incorporate uploaded audio, images, and video to generate a consistent, high‑quality output.

  • Rollout: Being rolled out to Google Flow and YouTube Shorts for Google AI subscribers, reinforcing Google’s push into multimodal content creation and AI‑powered video tools.
