Google teases I/O 2026 with ‘Make Build Unlock’ puzzle
Source: 9to5Google

The journey to Google I/O 2026 is well underway with a puzzle that lets you figure out the conference dates. By playing through all five builds, you unlock the final bonus that reveals the Google I/O 2026 date. The puzzle appears a few days after last year’s edition.
Every play brings the community closer to unlocking the date. Once a sufficient number of people have completed the puzzle, the date is revealed later in the day.
How the Puzzle Works
- Players must complete each of the five “builds” (mini‑games) that leverage Gemini 3.
- Each build can be “Remix in AI Studio.”
- The collective progress of the community determines when the date is revealed.
The Five Builds
- Hole in One – A mini‑golf game where Gemini 3 creates a helpful caddy that offers tips and commentary tailored to your gameplay.
- Nonogram – Generates endless nonogram boards using Gemini.
- Word Wheel – Uses Gemini 3 to automate level design, ensuring balanced and enjoyable puzzles.
- Supersonic Bot – Introduces microphone mechanics; noise controls the Android Bot’s altitude.
- Stretchy Cat – Gemini 3 acts as a stage designer, balancing mechanics and difficulty for endless play. Complete the build, then refresh for more.

First Game: Mini‑Golf
The first build is a mini‑golf game. Click and hold to aim your shot and adjust power while avoiding obstacles. A Gemini‑powered “caddy” provides real‑time feedback. In Level 1, the obstacle is the Android Bot.
