We’re not due for any new Google Pixel phones in the near future, but a surprise teaser has just dropped with the reveal that an exclusive new model is hitting the market this week, and we might already have some idea of what it is.
Teaser announcement
On a Twitter/X account used to provide updates on Google products in Japan, the company teased a “Japan‑exclusive” Google Pixel device slated to launch tomorrow, April 7. The teaser (translated) says the new model brings “an artistic special specification.”
The accompanying image shows the April 7 date and, in Japanese, notes that this is a “Japan‑limited model.” The background is a dark blue, darker than the Pixel 10’s Indigo color.
Possible model
Developer @evowizz on Twitter/X recently shared that Google has been preparing a “dark blue” variant of the Pixel 10a, which aligns with Google’s teaser. Aside from that post, there hasn’t been much chatter, so certainty about the release is limited.
Market context
Google Pixel has seen success in Japan, especially with the A‑Series models. The Pixel 7a was a smash hit in the country, so a limited‑edition color variant makes sense for attracting additional attention in the region.
Current Pixel 10a lineup
Elsewhere, the Pixel 10a remains available for $499 (or local pricing) in the following colors:
- Berry
- Lavender
- Obsidian
- Fog
