For the second year in a row, Google will be hosting “The Android Show | I/O Edition” before I/O 2026.

Update 5/5 – Google today officially announced The Android Show | I/O Edition after the premature unveil last month.

Original 4/23 – Before the May 19‑20 developer conference, Google will stream The Android Show on Tuesday, May 12 at 10 a.m. PT. Google teases that “this is going to be one of the biggest years for Android yet.”

In 2025, Google announced several major updates:

• Material 3 Expressive
• Find Hub
• The Gemini expansion to Android Auto, Wear OS, and Google TV

Android (XR) also appeared during the I/O keynote, though most OS announcements arrived a week earlier.

What to Expect in 2026

Google is repeating the format for 2026:

• Consumer‑facing announcements will be delivered during The Android Show.
• Developer updates will take place at the I/O conference.
