Overview

Google’s Gemini AI is moving closer to functioning as a true digital assistant. On select Pixel 10 phones and the Samsung Galaxy S26 series, Gemini can now hail an Uber or assemble a DoorDash order on your behalf.

How Task Automation Works

1. Start with a prompt – Tell Gemini what you need, e.g., “Get me an Uber to the Palace of Fine Arts.”
2. Virtual app window – Gemini opens the relevant app in a virtual window on your device.
3. Step‑by‑step execution – It walks through the ordering process automatically.
4. User control – You can watch the automation, pause it, intervene, or let it run in the background.

Current Limitations

• Gemini prepares the ride or food order, but you must confirm and submit the request yourself.
