How it works
- Users who receive access will see an “Ask Gemini” icon on the tab bar.
- The icon can be activated for any tab to ask questions, summarize content, or create a quiz.
- Gemini can work across multiple tabs, allowing users to reference several pages in a single query (e.g., comparing products or travel options).
Integration with Google services
Gemini can connect to various Google apps for more contextual and personalized answers:
- Gmail – compose and send emails directly from the sidebar.
- YouTube – summarize videos and list main points with timestamp markers.
- Maps, Calendar, Drive, Keep – retrieve relevant information and schedule meetings.
Image generation with Nano Banana 2
Google’s Nano Banana 2 generative AI tool is available within Gemini for Chrome, enabling image transformations. For example, users can upload a photo of a room and ask Gemini to visualize how a piece of furniture would look in that space.

Availability on iOS
In addition to desktop, Gemini support is also rolling out to Chrome for iOS in India. When available, the option appears in the address bar via a page‑tools icon.
Agentic capabilities
In January, Google introduced increased agentic capabilities for U.S.-based AI Pro and AI Ultra users, allowing Gemini to take over the browser and complete tasks autonomously. This functionality is not included in the current expansion for India, New Zealand, and Canada.
