Integration of NotebookLM into Gemini
Google has fully integrated NotebookLM, its AI‑powered research tool, into the Gemini app. The company launched a standalone NotebookLM app last year, but noted that “keeping track of everything can be a challenge.” While NotebookLM was previously available as a source in Gemini, you can now create notebooks directly inside the chatbot.
Creating a notebook
In Gemini’s side panel you’ll find the option to Create a new notebook. After creating one, select Add sources.
Supported source types
- PDFs
- Documents
- Website URLs
- YouTube videos
- Copy‑pasted text
NotebookLM uses information from these sources to build a searchable repository.
What you can do with the notebook
You can ask Gemini to generate reviewers, infographics, or video/audio overviews that turn your uploaded information into an easy‑to‑understand format.
Note: Google warns that NotebookLM can be inaccurate, so it’s best to double‑check any information it produces.
Availability
The full integration is rolling out this week for Google AI Ultra, Pro, and Plus subscribers on the web. It will become available on mobile, in more locations, and to free users over the coming weeks.
