Forza Horizon 6 has leaked a week ahead of launch

Leak Details
Microsoft’s Xbox division can’t get a break these days. Forza Horizon from Playground Games was set to arrive on May 19, but the PC version was leaked online and cracked, as reported by Video Games Chronicle. Downloads began appearing on sharing sites like GameDrive after Steam users reportedly obtained an unencrypted preload version of the game.
It appears Playground Games uploaded the preload files on Steam without encryption, and pirates quickly shared them. Links to the files (totaling around 150 GB) were removed from Reddit but remain available on other, less regulated parts of the web. The leak follows a similar incident for the PC version of Death Stranding 2.
Impact on Players
Forza Horizon 6 is highly online‑centric, but according to several Reddit users (see screenshot here), the cracked version is playable offline. Gamers who purchased the Premium Upgrade Bundle for $120 to get early access (starting May 15) may be upset about being beaten to the punch. “What an insane screw‑up,” gaming fan page @videotech noted on X.
Game Overview
Forza Horizon 6 takes the arcade racing series to Japan, with official images showing cherry blossoms, Mount Fuji, and other iconic scenery. The “unique culture” of Japan—its cars, music, and fashion—was the impetus for the setting, according to Playground Games art director Don Arceta.
Xbox Context
Xbox has been struggling lately, with hardware and game sales declining due to rising prices, tariffs, and other issues. Even Game Pass, once hailed as one of the best deals in gaming, nearly doubled in price last year. With all that going on, the company hopes Forza Horizon 6 will be a hit, but this leak is unlikely to help.
