Indefinite Update Pauses
Microsoft announced that Windows 11 users can now pause updates indefinitely, resetting the 35‑day limit as often as they wish. After selecting a pause, the system will not prompt for updates for the next 35 days, and users can extend this period repeatedly. While updates—especially security patches—should eventually be installed, the change gives users full control over timing.
Additional Control Options
- Users can shut down or restart their devices without being forced to apply pending updates.
- The new options build on a recent feature that let users skip updates while setting up a new Windows device.
Rollout
These updates are currently being rolled out to members of the Windows Insider program who are enrolled in the Dev and Experimental channels.
