The “Aesthetic” Problem

In 2021 I discovered the Fliqlo clock screensaver for Windows. It was everything I liked: minimal, aesthetic, and clean, and it quickly became a permanent part of my desk setup.

The major gap was the lack of an Android version, so the screensaver experience was never consistent across all my screens. For me, workspace aesthetics, wallpapers, and screensavers aren’t just “small details”—they shape the daily environment and workflow.

Two days ago I decided to stop waiting for someone else to build this. With the current state of generative AI, I realized I could bridge the gap myself.

Solution

Drawing on my background in software development and AI research, I teamed up with AI to turn a years‑long personal pain point into a functional product in record time. AI helped me navigate the technical hurdles of:

  • Windows – implementing the classic .scr screensaver logic.
  • Android – developing a native DreamService (Android’s “Daydream” system) for a seamless mobile experience.

Features

  • Flipqlo is a 100 % open‑source, dual‑platform flip‑clock screensaver.
  • Windows support – native .scr installation for your desktop.
  • Android app – full DreamService support for phones and tablets.
  • One repo, one flow – managed via GitHub for easy collaboration and a unified release process.
  • Privacy‑first – no trackers, no bloat—just the flip.

Call for Community Help

The project is in its early stages, and I’m looking for contributors, testers, and ideas.

  • Contributors – help polish the flip animations and add customization options (e.g., 12 h/24 h toggles).
  • Testers – let me know how it runs on your specific Windows version or Android device.
  • Ideas – suggest features that would make your desk setup feel more complete.

If you care about clean setups and cross‑device consistency, I’d love for you to check it out!
