It has been years since we last saw a solar‑powered laptop, but Chinese device maker Oukitel has announced the world’s first rugged solar‑powered laptop, the RG14‑P. The device features a 14.1″ touchscreen and a solar‑panel array integrated into the back cover behind the display.
The laptop is aimed at industrial workers who need a machine that can operate in harsh conditions and remote environments for extended periods, often away from a power outlet. According to the limited specifications released, the RG14‑P will include:
- An internal 3,000 mAh main battery
- A larger 5,200 mAh backup battery
- 65 W fast charging (wired wall charging, separate from the solar panel)
Oukitel also confirmed that the laptop will ship with Windows 11 pre‑installed (source).
