Release Overview

Mozilla has released Firefox 148 for Windows, macOS, and Linux. The update introduces a new AI Settings section that allows users to disable all AI‑powered features with a single click and then selectively re‑enable only the features they want, such as the local translation tool that operates entirely on‑device rather than in the cloud.

Security Fixes

The release also patches more than 50 security vulnerabilities—none known to be under active exploitation. Over half of these are classified by Mozilla as high‑risk, including:

  • Five sandbox‑escape flaws
  • Eight use‑after‑free bugs in the JavaScript engine that could enable code execution
