Feature and Maintenance Release 0.56.0 of the GitHub Action for Checking Spelling

Release Overview

A request was received for support for Portuguese for the GitHub Action for Checking Spelling.

Due to the holidays and other work, the release was delayed compared with the previous release, but it is now available.

New Features

• Support for Portuguese language, including the Brazilian variant (Portugal and Brazil) for both Hunspell and Aspell.
• Updated Docker base image to Python 3.14.2 trixie‑slim. See the release notes for Python 3.14.2.

Upcoming Work

Another interesting feature request is open and may be tackled next year:

• “Summarize results as a markdown table”
