Day 1288 : Lake

Liner notes
Professional
Had a pretty good day. I finished up the project I was working on and got it pushed to the repo. Had a couple of all‑hands meetings since it’s the end of the year and people are doing their wrap‑ups. I also had another meeting with some folks from my team to give and get updates on what’s happening. Yeah, a pretty chill day.
Personal
I got a lot of stuff done last night. I picked up some projects on Bandcamp and got the social media posts together. I also started to put together tracks for the radio show. Google Gemini and I mapped out how the next set of dashboards would be set up for my current project. It went from me asking Gemini for opinion on structuring the data to basically scaffolding out the whole Astro project with layouts, components, pages, Firebase Functions, and even tips to consider.
I wasn’t planning on using Firebase Functions for the Stripe webhook, but Gemini suggested I shouldn’t rely on the user receiving the success message from Stripe on their page—“what if they threw their phone in a lake?” (Gemini gave that as a joke). It also suggested a couple of other functions that would be good candidates for Firebase Functions. Gemini even generated a README.md file with a checklist of everything I need to do to get everything working. Kind of amazing what AI can do.

So, I called it a little early at work so I could make it to the venue where the Orlando Devs Holiday party is happening. I’m writing this blog post outside in the parking lot. I have a little time before the event starts, so I’m going to do what I would have done at work and get this sample application up and running, then make some modifications for the project I want to finish before the end of the week. Luckily, it’s basically the last thing I need to get working. I’ve already submitted the other two sample applications to the team that will be working on their part of the project. I’ll get to work and then head to the venue.
Have a great night!
