Cyberdecks used to look like little laptops, but now they’re getting more personal

Annike Tan, a DIY enthusiast and TikTok creator known as @ubeboobey, can carry her cyberdeck around without anyone noticing because it doesn’t look like a computer at all. Featured in The Cut and Wired, she went viral earlier this year with a mermaid‑themed cyberdeck built inside an old purse. Since then, she’s upgraded the design, adding an MP3 player and a solar‑powered version.

Tan, along with countless other DIYers, is attracting millions of views by showcasing personal computers hidden inside purses, jewelry boxes, toys, and other repurposed tech—often using Raspberry Pi boards as the core.
