Details

  • Title: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past
  • Release window: Sometime in 2027 on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5. (No information yet on Switch or Switch 2.)
  • Development: Story content is being co‑developed with Polish studio Fool’s Theory, the team currently working on a remake of The Witcher.
  • Previous DLC: Blood and Wine celebrated its 10th anniversary this week.

The studio’s announcement on X read:

“Medallion’s humming… that can only mean one thing! It’s time to announce The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past! This brand new expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will take you to the Path with Geralt of Rivia once more.”

Platform Speculation

Given CDPR’s involvement in the impressive Cyberpunk 2077 port for the original Switch, a future Switch 2 version of The Witcher 3 isn’t out of the question, though no official word has been given.

Impact on The Witcher 4

The announcement raises questions about the long‑awaited sequel, The Witcher 4. The game was last shown in an Unreal Engine 5 tech demo and a cinematic trailer at the 2024 Game Awards, but no release date has been set. With CDPR still expanding the original title, a 2027 launch for The Witcher 4 now seems unlikely.
