Apple TV’s musical comedy Schmigadoon! earned a loyal following, but was canceled after two seasons. Now, a Broadway spinoff has proven a hit and earned significant acclaim, as evidenced by today’s Tony nominations. That could be good news for a prospective season 3 of Schmigadoon! on Apple TV.
Schmigadoon! stage show is most‑nominated new musical at Tony Awards, sparking fresh hope for Apple TV revival

Today the Tony Awards announced nominees for Broadway’s biggest awards of the year, and Schmigadoon! earned a whopping 12 nominations, including Best Musical. Those 12 nominations lead all other shows, tied only with The Lost Boys.
It’s the latest evidence of Schmigadoon!’s success beyond the canceled Apple TV series and provides fresh hope that Apple might choose to revive the show.
Creator Cinco Paul, who also developed the stage spinoff, previously shared that season 3 has already been written. In a post on X when Apple canceled the series in 2024, he wrote:
I am sad to share that Apple will not be moving forward with season 3 of Schmigadoon! The season is written (including 25 new songs), but we unfortunately won’t be making it. …
Paul later hinted to Entertainment Weekly that the show could be revived:
There have been some talks about it. Most of the movement is inside my heart, but I’m not giving up. I’m really proud of the work that all of us in the writers’ room did, and I think the fans would really love it. Take heart in the fact that I have not given up and there are other people that are fans of the show who would also love to see that happen. You just never know; life is long.
If Schmigadoon! continues to succeed on Broadway—and even wins Best Musical at this year’s Tony ceremony—Apple would have more reason than ever to bring the series back. While it may still be wishcasting, many fans are rooting for the Broadway show’s success in the hopes that season 3 will eventually arrive.
