Bumble announced that it’s adding a series of AI‑driven features intended to help turn matches into lasting connections, including tools that offer feedback and guidance on users’ bios, photos, and prompts. Read the announcement.

AI‑Suggested Profile Guidance

  • Rolls out globally.
  • Provides “personalized, actionable feedback” on bios and prompts.

AI Photo Feedback (U.S. users)

  • Helps users choose the best photos and present their most authentic selves.
  • Example suggestions: remove sunglasses that cover the face, add a wider variety of photos (outdoors, with friends).
  • While the advice is straightforward, it offers new guidance for many users.

“Suggest a Date” (Canada test)

  • Non‑AI feature that appears when a conversation stalls.
  • Allows a user to signal they’re ready to meet in person, bypassing the back‑and‑forth.

“With Suggest a Date, we’re creating a clear expression of intent and giving members a way to bypass the traditional back‑and‑forth and move toward meeting in real life,” said Bumble CTO Vivek Sagi.

How Other Dating Apps Are Using AI

  • Hinge – In December, introduced a tool to generate more engaging conversation starters.
  • Tinder – Piloting “Chemistry” in Australia, which accesses users’ camera rolls and questionnaire responses to reduce swipe fatigue and suggest better matches. TechCrunch article
  • Meta’s Facebook Dating – Launched a feature that asks to use AI on users’ camera rolls to suggest edits. TechCrunch article

Shifts in User Behavior

Some young people are moving away from online dating altogether, seeking more real‑world experiences that aren’t mediated by an app. The New York Times article
