Base Mac Mini Sold Out From Apple Online Store

Availability
Apple appears to be sold out of the base Mac mini, listed as “Currently Unavailable” on the Apple Online Store. The base Mac mini is the model with an M4 chip, 256 GB of storage, and 16 GB of RAM. M4 Mac mini models with upgraded storage remain in stock, as do Mac mini models equipped with the M4 Pro chip. Configurations with 24 GB of RAM are still available, but some models with 32 GB RAM or higher are out of stock.
Possible Reasons
When an Apple device goes out of stock, it can sometimes indicate an imminent refresh, though it’s not clear if that’s the case here. The Mac mini has been in high demand because users are purchasing it to run AI models locally, so the shortage may be demand‑driven rather than a sign of an upcoming update.
Future Updates
Apple removed the 512 GB Mac Studio from its online store earlier this year, and Mac Studio models have also gone out of stock. Apple is reportedly working on M5 and M5 Pro versions of the Mac mini for 2026, but the update may be delayed until later in the year due to RAM supply issues.
Thanks, Max!
