What is the AWS Community Builders Program?

The AWS Community Builders program connects you with a global network of builders who learn continuously, share openly, and show up consistently. It’s not about being the smartest person in the room; it’s about curiosity, discipline, and helping others learn.

Why You Should Apply

Benefits for Members

  • Resources for Learning

    • $500 in AWS credits – experiment with advanced services and build demos without worrying about costs.
    • Certification voucher – one voucher for an AWS certification exam of your choice.
    • Cloud Academy subscription – one‑year access to a full library of courses and hands‑on labs.
  • Insider Edge

    • Direct access – private sessions with AWS service teams to ask engineers questions directly.
    • Early access & insights – sneak peeks at upcoming AWS features (under NDA) so you can experiment and shape new services.
  • Community

    • Private Slack community to connect with like‑minded learners, find mentors, and engage with AWS Heroes.
  • Swag & Discounts

    • Welcome kit with exclusive gear (backpacks, mugs, caps, stickers).
    • Discounts on AWS events such as re:Invent.

How to Qualify

You don’t need to be an expert; you just need to demonstrate that you help others learn. Common ways to contribute include:

  • Blogging – deep‑dive articles on Medium, Dev.to, or a personal blog.
  • Video – YouTube tutorials, technical guides, or how‑to videos about AWS services.
  • Social Media – sharing valuable AWS insights on LinkedIn, Instagram, or TikTok.
  • Community Support – answering questions on forums, Reddit, or AWS re:Post.
  • Speaking – talks at cloud meetups or AWS events (remote or in‑person).

Consistency and genuine intent are key.

How to Apply

  1. Log in with your free AWS Builder ID.
  2. Fill out the short application form, providing basic information and links to your best content.
  3. Submit – take your time to gather the links before hitting submit.

Note: The application window for the 2026 cycle closes on January 21, 2026. After that date, you can use the same link to join the waitlist for the next cycle.

Personal Note

I’ve been building on my own for a while, but this year I’m applying because I want to be part of this community. If you decide to apply, feel free to drop a comment and let me know. Good luck, and happy building!
