What is Cloud?

You can imagine your computer or phone storing all your pictures, files, and apps. But what if you run out of space or lose your device? The cloud provides a giant digital storage space made up of many powerful computers connected over the internet.

There are many cloud providers—Azure, Google Cloud Platform, IBM Cloud, etc.—each offering a range of services for businesses and individuals. Amazon Web Services (AWS) is one of the leading providers, delivering a comprehensive suite of cloud computing services such as servers, storage, databases, networking, and more. AWS lets companies and individuals use strong computing resources without investing in physical hardware.

The AWS Cloud is important because it enables small businesses and startups to access the same resources that were once only available to large enterprises. You only pay for what you use, allowing you to build, grow, and scale ideas without purchasing an entire infrastructure.

Creating an AWS Account

  1. Open the AWS Management Console.
  2. Click Create account.
  3. Enter a valid email address, password, and AWS account name, then click Verify Email Address.
  4. Check your email for the verification code, copy it, paste it on the AWS page, and click Verify.
  5. Set a root user password and click Continue.
  6. Provide the required contact information and click Continue.
  7. Choose a plan:
    • Free 6‑month tier (AWS Free Tier)
    • Paid plan
  8. Provide payment information for verification. AWS will not charge you unless your usage exceeds the Free Tier limits. Some card issuers may place a temporary $1.00 authorization that is later reversed.
  9. Click Verify and continue.
  10. Complete phone verification:
    • Receive a one‑time password (OTP) via SMS or voice call.
    • Enter the OTP to confirm your identity.
  11. Solve the CAPTCHA and click Submit.
  12. Once the process finishes, your account is set up and ready for use.
  13. Sign in to the console by clicking Sign in to console and entering your login details.

Troubleshooting

  • If you encounter issues with payment verification, try clearing your browser cache, using a different browser, or using another debit/credit card.
