Audible's new plan is $9 a month and still includes an audiobook credit
Source: Engadget
Overview
Audible launched a new budget‑friendly Standard plan that costs $9 per month. The plan still includes a monthly audiobook credit, which can be used to download virtually any audiobook from the library, including most new releases. This credit was previously only available with the Premium Plus plan ($15 per month).
Subscribers also receive access to a curated library of content from Audible Originals and Wondery+, all without ads.
Comparison with Premium Plus
- Ownership of downloads: Premium Plus lets users keep downloaded audiobooks forever, whereas audiobooks from the Standard plan are removed if the subscription is cancelled.
- Additional perks: Premium Plus members get regular access to sales and discounts and a library of audiobooks and podcasts similar to Kindle Unlimited. The catalog isn’t comprehensive but can be useful.
Availability
The new Standard plan is currently available in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, France, and Australia. Audible is testing the tier in additional marketplaces worldwide.
