Overview

Atomfall is an action‑survival RPG released in 2025 that won British Game of the Year at the recent BAFTA Game Awards. The game is steeped in British culture, referencing Doctor Who, the legend of Excalibur, The Lord of the Rings, James Bond, The Chronicles of Narnia, and The Wicker Man.

Gameplay

Set in the 1960s, the Fallout‑inspired title takes place after a nuclear disaster creates a quarantine zone in England’s Lake District. Players awaken in a bunker with no memory of how they arrived and must uncover the story, escape the zone, and encounter a variety of off‑beat characters and enemies.

The game has attracted more than 3.7 million players to date.

TV Adaptation

A television series based on Atomfall is currently in development. According to a press release:

“The TV adaptation will expand on the game’s mythology while remaining faithful to its tone, themes and British roots.”

  • Producer: Rebellion (also behind the Sniper Elite series)
  • Co‑producer: Two Brothers Pictures
  • Writers: Harry and Jack Williams, known for Fleabag and Call the Midwife

No release date or platform has been announced yet.
