Overview
We already know, thanks to multiple rumors and reports, that Apple is planning a massive overhaul of its smart assistant Siri in the upcoming iOS 27.
A new report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman provides details on the privacy aspects of this newer, smarter Siri.
Privacy‑focused Features
- Auto‑deleting chats – Unlike many AI chatbots, the standalone Siri app will let users automatically delete conversation history. In Settings, users can choose to keep chats forever, for one year, or for 30 days.
- Ad‑free experience – Apple intends to market its AI experience as “ad‑free,” contrasting with OpenAI, which has begun rolling out sponsored ads in ChatGPT (source).
User Interface Options
- Users will be able to decide whether Siri opens with a new chat or displays a grid of previous conversations at launch.
Memory Management
Apple will impose tighter limits on how Siri’s memory works. This likely means the assistant won’t pull from past conversations as liberally as some rival systems, enhancing user privacy.
