Apple Stops Offering Mac Mini With 256GB of Storage, Starting Price Rises to $799
Source: MacRumors
Pricing Change
Apple stopped offering the 256 GB storage option for the Mac mini worldwide. In the U.S., the base model now starts at $799 with the M4 chip, 16 GB of RAM, and 512 GB of storage, up from $599 with 256 GB of storage.
M4 Pro Configurations
Mac mini models with the M4 Pro chip already required a minimum of 512 GB of storage, so their pricing remains unchanged.
Supply Constraints
Mac mini and Mac Studio supply is constrained; Apple indicated it may take “several months” to achieve a supply‑demand balance. Both machines are described as “amazing platforms for AI and agentic tools,” driving higher‑than‑expected demand.
Apple also stopped offering the Mac Studio with 512 GB of RAM. The company expects “significantly higher memory costs” this quarter, and tight RAM availability is likely influencing these decisions.
