Apple announced plans to start manufacturing the Mac mini in the United States and has now shared more details, photos, and video footage of the new facility.
Announcement and Leadership Comments
Apple’s COO Sabih Khan revealed the initiative during a video interview with The Wall Street Journal, touring a Foxconn facility in Houston, Texas:
“We’re very excited to tell you that later this year we will be beginning Mac mini manufacturing right here in this space.”
CEO Tim Cook added that production of AI servers—used to power Apple Intelligence—is also being accelerated at the Houston plant:
“Apple is deeply committed to the future of American manufacturing, and we’re proud to significantly expand our footprint in Houston with the production of Mac mini starting later this year. We began shipping advanced AI servers from Houston ahead of schedule, and we’re excited to accelerate that work even further.”
Expansion of the Houston Campus
- Adding Mac mini assembly will double the size of the Houston campus.
- Apple will open a 20,000‑square‑foot Advanced Manufacturing Center later this year, providing hands‑on training in advanced manufacturing techniques for students, supplier employees, and U.S. businesses.
