Apple’s Upcoming Smart Glasses

Apple is reportedly planning to launch its first smart glasses in 2027, with a possible unveiling as early as the end of 2026. The details come from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who has been tracking Apple’s smart‑glasses strategy.

Design Options

Apple is testing four distinct frame designs:

  • Large rectangular frame
  • Slimmer rectangular frame (similar to the glasses worn by CEO Tim Cook)
  • Larger oval or circular frame
  • Smaller oval or circular frame

Color Choices

The company is also evaluating several color options, including:

  • Black
  • Ocean blue
  • Light brown

Context Within Apple’s AR Vision

These glasses represent a shift from Apple’s earlier, more ambitious mixed‑ and augmented‑reality roadmap, which has faced setbacks such as product delays and the muted market response to the Vision Pro.

Expected Features

While the glasses will not include displays, they are expected to offer:

  • Photo and video capture (rumored oval camera lenses)
  • Phone call handling
  • Music playback
  • Integration with the upcoming Siri upgrade

The design and feature set bring Apple’s offering closer to Meta’s Ray‑Ban glasses, emphasizing functionality over immersive visual overlays.
