macOS 26.3 hero

Following last week’s rollout of the RC version, Apple is now releasing macOS 26.3 for all compatible Macs. Here’s what’s new.

An uneventful point update

If you’ve been following 9to5Mac’s coverage of this beta cycle, you know that macOS 26.3 is a rather quiet update, consisting mostly of under‑the‑hood changes and improvements.

Today’s build number is 25D125.

One such change is that macOS 26.3 includes references to unreleased Apple Silicon chips, likely pointing to the M5 Max and M5 Ultra for the next MacBook Pro refresh.

Interestingly, there was no reference to the M5 Pro chip in the internal code of macOS 26.3 RC, which could be explained by this theory that Apple’s M5 Pro and M5 Max may be the same chip.

Today’s macOS 26.3 update is likely to come alongside the release of Xcode 26.3, which brings support for agentic coding with tools such as OpenAI’s Codex and Anthropic’s Code agent. The feature is expected to help developers streamline their development process.

While today’s release is not among macOS’s most exciting updates, it is always important to make sure you’re running the latest version, even if just for the “important bug fixes and security updates” listed in the RC release notes.
