According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple has tested a range of colors for its next entry‑level MacBook aimed at students and enterprise users. The palette includes light yellow, light green, blue, pink, as well as the classic silver and dark gray. Gurman notes that not all six colors are expected to make the final product, but the testing shows Apple’s willingness to explore flashier options. The company recently refreshed the iMac in 2024 with seven colors and replaced the space‑gray option with sky blue for the latest MacBook Air.

Pricing and Specifications

Rumors suggest the upcoming budget MacBook could be priced between $699 and $799. To hit this price point, Apple may use its iPhone‑class chips, such as the A18 Pro first seen in the iPhone 16 Pro Max. While the shell is expected to remain premium, other aspects—such as internal specs, ports, or the display—might see compromises.

Manufacturing and Announcement

Gurman reports that Apple will employ a new manufacturing process to produce aluminum shells for the affordable MacBook, rather than switching to cheaper materials like plastic. The official colors and details are anticipated to be revealed at an Apple event in March.
