Apple’s next pro‑level iPhone is reportedly staying on the warm side of the color spectrum.

According to the latest newsletter from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman—who is usually correct on Apple predictions—Apple has been testing a new “deep red” color for the iPhone 18 Pro. The device would use the same all‑aluminum body as last year’s iPhone 17 Pro, making it the first red iPhone since 2022. Gurman notes that the deep red might coexist with the “cosmic orange” color that was popular in China last year, rather than replacing it outright.

iPhone 18 Pro color options

  • Deep red – currently in testing.
  • Cosmic orange – remains popular in China and may continue into 2026 and beyond.

iPhone Fold color choices

The heavily rumored iPhone Fold, expected to launch this year, is likely to be offered only in classic finishes:

  • Dark gray or black
  • White or silver

These options align with previous leaks suggesting the Fold will be available solely in black and white for its debut.

Background: iPhone 17 Pro and “Scratchgate”

The all‑aluminum chassis introduced with the iPhone 17 Pro allowed Apple to experiment with bolder colors, but it also led to a controversy known as “Scratchgate.”

  • The aluminum body was more prone to visible scratches, especially on darker finishes.
  • As a result, Apple did not release a black iPhone 17 Pro, which disappointed some longtime fans.

Choosing between the Fold and the 18 Pro

  • iPhone Fold – offers a more muted color scheme and may be a safer choice for those concerned about scratches.
  • iPhone 18 Pro – provides vivid color options (deep red, cosmic orange) but will likely require a case to protect against scratches.
