Apple brings its M5 Pro and Max silicon to the next MacBook Pro generation

Overview

Apple’s announcement introduced MacBook Pro models equipped with the new M5 Pro and M5 Max silicon. The chips are available in both the 14‑inch and 16‑inch configurations. Pre‑orders start on March 4, with shipments expected to begin on March 11. Prices have increased compared with the previous generation.

14‑inch MacBook Pro

• Chip options: M5 Pro or M5 Max
• M5 Pro: 15 or 18 CPU cores, 16 or 20 GPU cores, 24 GB or 48 GB of RAM, base storage 1 TB (up from 512 GB)
• M5 Max: 18 CPU cores, 32 or 40 GPU cores, same RAM options, base storage 1 TB

16‑inch MacBook Pro

• Starts with the M5 Pro (18 CPU cores, 20 GPU cores)
• M5 Max configurations mirror those of the 14‑inch model
• Base model now ships with 1 TB of storage and 24 GB of RAM

• 14‑inch M5 (base): $1,699 (previously $1,599)
• 14‑inch M5 Pro: starts at $2,199 (up from $1,999)
• 16‑inch M5 Pro: starts at $2,699 (up from $2,499) – includes 24 GB RAM and 1 TB storage as standard
• M5 Max 14‑inch: $3,599 with 2 TB storage and 36 GB RAM
• M5 Max 16‑inch: $3,899 with 2 TB storage and 36 GB RAM
