The phrase “AI SLOP” has become a common criticism on Reddit, often used to dismiss well‑written posts as being generated by AI.

The Problem

I spent several hours researching and structuring a deep‑dive article, aiming for a clean, professional presentation. Despite the effort, the post was deleted, and the comments consisted mainly of users shouting “AI SLOP” and “ChatGPT bot.”

This raises the question: why has good grammar and a polished structure become a liability?

Even a literal copy‑paste of a Wikipedia article can be flagged by AI detectors as AI‑written. The current mindset seems to be that any post that isn’t a messy, typo‑filled wall of text must be a bot.

Impact on Creators

Creators feel pressured to intentionally lower the quality of their writing just to prove that the content is human‑generated. In an era where many people use tools to organize their thoughts, punishing effortful presentation discourages high‑quality contributions.

Personal Perspective

I would prefer to read a well‑structured, “bot‑sounding” post that teaches me something rather than a low‑effort “human” rant. Yet AI detectors continue to flag genuinely human‑written content as AI‑generated.
