생성형 AI 경쟁이 범용 모델 중심에서 산업 특화형 AI로 확장되면서 의료 분야에서도 ‘의료 파운데이션 모델(Medical Foundation Model)’ 구축 경쟁이 본격화되고 있다. 특히 방대한 임상 데이터와 진료 경험을 학습한 의료 특화 AI가 진료 보조와 병원 운영 효율화, 임상 의사결정 지원 등 다양한 영역으로 확산되며 의료AI 시장의 새로운 축으로 떠오르는 분위기다.

이런 흐름 속에서 루닛이 국내 대표 상급종합병원인 세브란스병원과 손잡고 의료 AI 임상 확산에 나선다.

의료 인공지능(AI) 기업 루닛은 세브란스병원과 의과학 파운데이션 모델 기반 의료 AI 개발·연구·임상 확산을 위한 업무협약(MOU)을 체결했다. 지난 14일 서울 서대문구 세브란스병원 병원장실에서 열린 협약식에는 루닛 서범석 대표와 유동근 CAIO, 세브란스병원 이강영 병원장, 김어수 연구부원장, 임준석 디지털헬스실장 등 양 기관 주요 관계자들이 참석했다.

의과학 파운데이션 모델은 의학 논문과 임상 데이터, 진료 가이드라인 등을 학습한 의료 특화 AI 모델이다. 이를 기반으로 진료 보조와 병원 운영 지원 등 목적별 응용 AI를 빠르게 개발할 수 있는 것이 특징이다. 양 기관은 이번 협약을 통해 ▲의과학 파운데이션 모델 기반 응용 AI 연구개발 ▲임상 및 병원 운영 분야 적용 시나리오 발굴 ▲의료 현장 적용 및 사업화 ▲데이터 협력 및 공동 연구 과제 발굴 등을 추진할 계획이다.

세브란스병원은 국내 대표 상급종합병원 중 하나로 풍부한 임상 경험과 의료 데이터를 보유하고 있다. 루닛은 이를 기반으로 실제 의료 현장에서 활용 가능한 응용 AI 개발과 임상 적용을 가속화한다는 전략이다.

공공 이어 민간까지… 의료 AI 확산 속도

업계에서는 최근 의료 AI 경쟁이 단순 영상 판독을 넘어 병원 운영과 진료 전반으로 확대되고 있다고 보고 있다. 특히 대형 언어모델(LLM) 기반 의료 AI가 등장하면서 의료 데이터와 병원 현장 경험을 얼마나 빠르게 결합할 수 있는지가 핵심 경쟁력으로 떠오르고 있다는 분석이다.

루닛은 앞서 국민건강보험 일산병원과도 의료 파운데이션 모델 기반 AX(AI 전환) 협력을 추진한 바 있다. 이번 세브란스병원 협력을 통해 공공과 민간 대표 의료기관 모두에서 의료 AI 확산 기반을 마련하게 됐다.

서범석 루닛 대표는 “국내 의료 발전을 이끌어온 세브란스병원과 함께 의과학 파운데이션 모델 기반 AI를 진료 현장에 적용하게 됐다”며 “세브란스병원의 풍부한 임상 경험과 루닛의 AI 기술을 결합해 의료진 업무 효율과 환자 중심 의료서비스 혁신에 기여하겠다”고 말했다.

As the competition in generative AI expands from general-purpose models to industry-specific AI, the race to build ‘Medical Foundation Models’ is intensifying in the medical field. In particular, medical-specialized AI trained on vast clinical data and clinical experience is spreading into various areas such as clinical assistance, hospital operational efficiency, and clinical decision support, emerging as a new axis of the medical AI market.

Amidst this trend, Lunit is partnering with Severance Hospital, a leading tertiary general hospital in Korea, to expand the clinical application of medical AI.

Lunit, a medical AI company, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Severance Hospital for the development, research, and clinical expansion of medical AI based on the Medical Science Foundation Model. The signing ceremony, held on the 14th at the President’s office in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, was attended by key officials from both organizations, including Lunit CEO Seo Beom-seok and CAIO Yoo Dong-geun, as well as Severance Hospital President Lee Kang-young, Vice President for Research Kim Eo-soo, and Head of Digital Health Lim Jun-seok.

The Medical Science Foundation Model is a medical-specialized AI model trained on medical papers, clinical data, and treatment guidelines. Its key feature is the ability to rapidly develop purpose-specific applied AI, such as clinical assistance and hospital operation support, based on this model. Through this agreement, the two institutions plan to pursue: ▲ research and development of applied AI based on the Medical Science Foundation Model; ▲ identification of application scenarios in clinical and hospital operations fields; ▲ application in medical settings and commercialization; and ▲ data cooperation and the identification of joint research projects.

Severance Hospital is one of Korea’s leading tertiary general hospitals and possesses extensive clinical experience and medical data. Based on this, Lunit’s strategy is to accelerate the development of applied AI usable in real-world medical settings and its clinical application.

From the public sector to the private sector… The spread of medical AI accelerates

The industry observes that competition in medical AI is recently expanding beyond simple image interpretation to encompass overall hospital operations and clinical practice. In particular, with the emergence of Large Language Model (LLM)-based medical AI, analysts suggest that the ability to rapidly combine medical data with on-site hospital experience is becoming a key competitive advantage.

Lunit has previously pursued AX (AI Transformation) cooperation based on the medical foundation model with Ilsan National Health Insurance Service. Through this collaboration with Severance Hospital, a foundation for the expansion of medical AI has been established in both leading public and private medical institutions.

このような流れの中で、ルネットが国内代表上級総合病院であるセブランス病院と手を取り、医療AI臨床拡散に乗り出す。

医療人工知能（AI）企業ルーネットは、セブランス病院と医学ファンデーションモデルベースの医療AI開発・研究・臨床拡散のための業務協約（MOU）を締結した。去る14日、ソウル西大門区セブランス病院病院長室で開かれた協約式には、ルーネットソボムソク代表とユ・ドングンCAIO、セブランス病院イ・ガンヨン病院長、キム・オス研究部院長、イム・ジュンソクデジタルヘルス室長など両機関主要関係者が参加した。

医学ファンデーションモデルは、医学論文と臨床データ、診療ガイドラインなどを学習した医療特化AIモデルだ。これを基に診療補助や病院運営支援など目的別応用AIを迅速に開発できるのが特徴だ。両機関は今回の協約を通じて▲医学ファンデーションモデルベースの応用AI研究開発▲臨床及び病院運営分野適用シナリオ発掘▲医療現場適用及び事業化▲データ協力及び共同研究課題の発掘などを推進する計画だ。

セブランス病院は国内代表上級総合病院の一つとして豊富な臨床経験と医療データを保有している。ルネットはこれを基に、実際の医療現場で活用可能な応用AIの開発と臨床応用を加速するという戦略だ。

公共で民間まで…医療AI拡散速度

業界では最近、医療AI競争が単純な映像の読みを超えて病院運営と診療全般に拡大していると見ている。特に大型言語モデル（LLM）ベースの医療AIが登場し、医療データと病院の現場経験をどれだけ早く結合できるかが核心競争力として浮上しているという分析だ。

ルネットは先に国民健康保険一山病院とも医療ファンデーションモデル基盤AX（AI転換）協力を推進したことがある。今回のセブランス病院協力を通じて公共と民間代表医療機関の両方で医療AI拡散基盤を設けることになった。

医疗人工智能公司Lunit与延世大学附属医院签署了一份合作备忘录（MOU），旨在基于医学科学基础模型（MSF模型）开发、研究和临床推广医疗人工智能。签约仪式于14日在首尔西大门区总统府举行，双方重要代表出席了仪式，包括Lunit首席执行官徐范锡和首席信息官柳东根，以及延世大学附属医院院长李康永、负责研究的副院长金鱼洙和数字健康负责人林俊锡。

从公共部门到私营部门……医疗人工智能的普及速度正在加快。

业内人士观察到，医疗人工智能领域的竞争近期已不再局限于简单的图像解读，而是扩展到医院整体运营和临床实践。尤其随着基于大型语言模型（LLM）的医疗人工智能的出现，分析师认为，能够快速将医疗数据与医院现场经验相结合的能力正成为一项关键的竞争优势。

Lunit此前曾与日山国民健康保险公团开展基于医疗基础模式的AX（人工智能转型）合作。通过与延世大学附属医院的合作，已在领先的公立和私立医疗机构中建立了医疗人工智能推广的基础。

Plus précisément, les IA spécialisées en médecine, entraînées sur de vastes ensembles de données cliniques et grâce à une solide expérience clinique, se déploient dans divers domaines tels que l’assistance clinique, l’optimisation des opérations hospitalières et l’aide à la décision clinique, constituant ainsi un nouvel axe du marché de l’IA médicale.

Dans ce contexte, Lunit s’associe à l’hôpital Severance, un hôpital général de référence en Corée, afin d’étendre l’application clinique de l’IA médicale.

Le modèle de la Fondation pour les sciences médicales est un modèle d’IA spécialisé en médecine, entraîné sur des articles médicaux, des données cliniques et des recommandations de traitement. Sa principale caractéristique est sa capacité à développer rapidement des IA appliquées ciblées, telles que l’assistance clinique et le soutien aux opérations hospitalières. Aux termes de cet accord, les deux institutions prévoient de poursuivre : ▲ la recherche et le développement d’une IA appliquée basée sur le modèle de la Fondation pour les sciences médicales ; ▲ l’identification de scénarios d’application dans les domaines cliniques et hospitaliers ; ▲ l’application en milieu médical et la commercialisation ; et ▲ la coopération en matière de données et l’identification de projets de recherche conjoints.

L’hôpital Severance, l’un des principaux centres hospitaliers universitaires de Corée, bénéficie d’une vaste expérience clinique et d’une importante base de données médicales. C’est pourquoi Lunit axe sa stratégie sur l’accélération du développement d’une intelligence artificielle appliquée, utilisable en situation réelle et applicable en clinique.

Du secteur public au secteur privé… La diffusion de l’IA médicale s’accélère

Le secteur constate que la concurrence en IA médicale s’étend désormais bien au-delà de la simple interprétation d’images pour englober l’ensemble des opérations hospitalières et la pratique clinique. En particulier, avec l’émergence de l’IA médicale basée sur les modèles de langage à grande échelle (LLM), les analystes estiment que la capacité à combiner rapidement les données médicales avec l’expérience hospitalière sur le terrain devient un avantage concurrentiel majeur.

Lunit a déjà mené une coopération en matière de transformation par l’IA (AX) en s’appuyant sur le modèle de la fondation médicale avec le Service national d’assurance maladie d’Ilsan. Grâce à cette collaboration avec l’hôpital Severance, les bases du développement de l’IA médicale ont été posées au sein d’établissements de santé publics et privés de premier plan.
