Google announced at its annual I/O developer conference that the Android CLI (command‑line interface) is now stable at version 1.0. The tool is designed to work with AI agents—such as Claude Code, OpenAI’s Codex, or Google’s own Antigravity and Gemini—allowing them to accelerate Android app development regardless of the coding platform the developer prefers.

AI agents and Android CLI

The Android CLI provides a new android studio command that lets AI agents retrieve knowledge about Android development and tap into the capabilities of Android Studio. From there, agents can access a range of other commands and tools to assist in building projects.

Google Antigravity integration

Google’s Antigravity platform will offer an optional bundle that installs the Android CLI tools and knowledge base. This enables Antigravity to perform core Android app development tasks directly, extending the reach of Google’s specialized development expertise.
